Race Results

Well, finally found out how we did in our first race. Fidelis placed 3rd in our class, so a pretty good run for a first race. Looking forward to the next one. Thanks to John and Jim for all their help, wouldn't have gone that well without them.

Our finish time was 1 hour 56 minutes, and 52 seconds corrected. 255 seconds behind the lead boat.

Sanding and Sanding and Sanding, Day 5

So after the epoxy cured, we had to sand it. There was alot of wavy spots that had to be knocked down flat. Tape edges were raised, and the edges of the fiberglass cloth were also, but we finally got the bottom sanded.

Now we gotta sand the inside.

Fidelis Races For The First Time

Well, after some persuasion from "Aussie Jim" (Owner of "This Boat")we took Fidelis out on her first regatta with the Oriental Dinghy Club. John, from "Morning Star" helped crew and we had a great time. We started very well, crossing the start line within 5 seconds of the start horn, and ran the first leg with a lead on most everyone, but soon after rounding the first mark, we made a decision to stay a straight course for the second mark and ended up with no wind, where other boats had tacked into good spots of wind. Don't know how we placed but we'll let you know as soon as we find out. Thanks to Jim and John both for the awsome hand crewing the boat. I learned alot and had a great time. Look forward to the next race.

Day 4

Wood glue and sawdust mixed together, almost looks like a yummy snack. I wouldn't try this at home! Moving right along. Now we got a bunch of sanding to do.
